About the Builder
I have always had an affinity for the area's finer homes and found inspiration in the architecture of those found in the neighbourhoods along the river valleys of west and west central Calgary and Edmonton. After many years in the oil industry and more than two decades in the computer/IT industry I decided to pursue that inspiration and something on my own. My wife and I had just built a new home with one of Calgary's better known home builders and after considerable frustration I surmised "there has to be a better way" (and better experience for the home buyer), and set to prove it. And there is. That way is the difference at QC Custom Homes. It is quality and care, one home at a time. At QC, we only build one home at a time. The company founder is the inspiration, driving force, continuity and quality control, each and every day, for each project, from architectural research and design to final detailing and cleaning, and everything in between. This alone set QC Custom Homes apart. However, the biggest difference once construction begins is that I'm on-site, every day, working with the trades and ensuring critical, fundamental, more mundane and discretionary elements are implemented correctly and in harmony with design concepts, the first time. And because my entire attention is on one project at a time, I eliminate wasted effort and re-works, and better manage and coordinate the trades and material supply, minimizing costly delays, achieving a better product for less. Our Homes
It's the little things you don't notice at first glance, like triple pane windows in baths, solid core 7' (or 8') doors, glued and screwed sub-floors, sealed, water & stain proofed tile and grout, well lit, spacious and organized closets, storage, lighting and telecom outlets where you need them, and easy-living, practical floor plans. Most builders won't bother nor spend where you don't notice. At QC nothing is compromised. Our homes are built the way we would build them for ourselves. *Hue - distinguishes one colour from another (red, blue, green); commonly called "colour" Value - the lightness or darkness of a colour. QC detailing, in addition to / after the home ducts are blow out and "professional" home cleaners have spent days cleaning (to their own standards), includes: - paint and stain overspray is removal from glass, granite, tile and other finishes, - paint & stain touch-ups, - painters tape removal from glass, glass mullions (French doors) and beneath base boards, - mark and scuff removal, - meticulous vacuuming including all inside cabinet, closet and pantry shelves (not just the ones you can see), hidden surfaces; e.g. even above door headers etc., all mechanical room and garage surfaces, all floors and hardware, - soft cloth wiping & cleaning of appliances, hardware, granite, tile and fine finishes, - tile washing and sealing, - glass and mirror cleaning and polishing, - window pane washing, interior and exterior; and - exterior façade and concrete surface washing (whenever weather permits), and of course .. - passing the municipality Occupancy Permit Inspection. A QC home isn't ready until it is as close to perfect as is possible. Additional detailing work typically takes 4-6 weeks. Building "Green"
